ANSWERS:
1. IF I DON'T KNOW ANYONE HAVING A BAR/BAT MITZVAH, CAN I STILL DONATE?
Yes, of course we would welcome your kind donation towards the Twinning Program. Your gift would enable a boy or girl in Israel to celebrate their big day in the same way that someone twinning their simcha helps these teens.
2. IF WE ALREADY HAD OUR CHILD'S SIMCHA, CAN WE STILL TWIN AND GIVE TZEDAKAH MONEY?
Yes you can. In many cases, the students in Israel are either on a waiting list to be sponsored or have not yet completed their studies. In either case, your sponsorship would allow them to become Bar/Bat Mitzvah and your son or daughter would be twinned with them and receive the same information on the boy or girl that you have helped with this mitzvah.
3. IF WE CANNOT PAY FOR THE WHOLE SPONSORSHIP, CAN WE DONATE A PORTION OF THE SIMCHA COSTS?
Yes you can. On the sponsorship page you can see the total budget and the categories for sponsorship that make up the total cost. If you are not donating the entire sponsorship amount, you can choose to donate for one or more of these categories of the budget. When we have other donors that have also covered portions of the budget, we combine these donations until they add up to one full sponsorship of a teen in Israel. Once we have this full amount we can let another boy or girl join the program and you will have a share in this twinning sponsorship with the other contributors.
4. WHAT IS TWINNING OR THE HISTORY OF TWINNING SIMCHAS?
5. WHAT DO WE RECEIVE AS AN INDICATION OF OUR INVOLVEMENT IN THE SPONSORSHIP OF A TEEN FOR THEIR BAR/BAT MITZVAH IN ISRAEL AND THAT THEY HAVE COMPLETED THEIR STUDIES?
We try to encourage contact between the sponsor(s) and the boy or girl in Israel as much as possible. This can be through letters, emails, picture exchanges and in some cases, phone calls between both parties. This of course depends on the permission of the teen and their family in Israel and we have to respect their right to privacy first and foremost as I am sure you understand. But in most cases their is contact via one or more of the previously mentioned levels. We also send a
Certificate of Appreciation
to the sponsoring teen which can be framed and cherished by the
family. We also like to post pictures of the twinned teens and
families on our website which you can see on our
PAST SIMCHAS pages.
